Peyton (2018-2020)

Having Mrs. Walker as a teacher for two years has been one of the most rewarding components of not only my mathematical career, but my academic experience as a whole. Mrs. Walker utilized unique and multifaceted techniques to teach and conceptualize mathematical ideas in class, which was especially beneficial in a course as difficult as BC Calculus! She fosters a conversational classroom environment, in which students work collaboratively with each other AND with Mrs. Walker to truly understand concepts. This style of open communication made me feel comfortable with the material, and I’ve only experienced this collaboration in Mrs. Walker’s class. Last but not least, Mrs. Walker is one of the few teachers I know that truly cares about her students beyond the classroom. She would regularly practice mindfulness with her students, which was incredibly helpful for us in the stressful months of college applications and teenage life in general. The mathematical and life skills Mrs. Walker imparts on her students have benefited me greatly, and I am so thankful to have had her as a teacher and friend!
