  • Amy

    Amy has spent nearly 15 years in education, earning both a bachelor’s and master’s in Chemistry, with a focus on Physics, from Western Washington University. Her passion for chemistry stems from discovering how math can unlock the mysteries of the natural world. What began as a short-term teaching role turned into a fulfilling career, where she found joy in helping students grasp complex concepts and build confidence.

    Amy specializes in tutoring chemistry, both AP and general, and enjoys teaching higher-level math. She excels at showing students how to recognize patterns and underlying principles, fostering a deeper understanding of the material. Her teaching approach is personalized, adapting to each student’s learning style to make challenging concepts more accessible.

    Outside of tutoring, Amy is a USA Hockey accredited coach and enjoys spending time on the ice with her two children. She loves the sport’s fast pace and camaraderie, and coaching has become a fun way for her to bond with her kids while applying the principles of physics in an active, hands-on environment.

  • Ben

    Ben is a junior at the University of Washington, majoring in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology with a minor in Global Health. His passion for problem-solving, especially in biology, drives his approach to tutoring. Ben enjoys the challenge of not only working through complex material but also figuring out how each student learns best. He believes that learning is a highly individual process and adapts his communication and teaching style to meet the unique needs of each student. This personalized approach helps build students' confidence and fosters their success.

    Ben began tutoring in his senior year of high school, helping a peer in biology. This experience ignited his passion for teaching, leading him to become an undergraduate teaching assistant at the University of Washington. In this role, he facilitates weekly review sessions, providing personalized support to students adjusting to large lecture formats.

    Outside academics, Ben enjoys spending time outdoors with friends, experimenting with new recipes, and discovering hidden gems while thrifting. His diverse teaching and problem-solving experiences allow him to help students overcome challenges and gain a deeper understanding of their subjects, particularly biology and math.

  • Claudia

    Claudia specializes in algebra and geometry, but she truly enjoys teaching all levels of math. Her passion lies in finding creative ways to help students grasp mathematical concepts while building their confidence. She thrives on making math accessible and enjoyable, especially for students who may feel anxious or uncertain about the subject. What excites her the most is watching students grow in confidence and ability.

    Claudia's background includes extensive experience in educational settings where she collaborated with families to foster trust and engage students in learning. She takes pride in celebrating students' progress when they feel empowered and capable.

    With years of experience tutoring in Math Reinforcement programs, Claudia has worked one-on-one with a diverse group of learners. This includes students with special needs in special education settings and students in ESOL (English as a Second Language) programs. These experiences have equipped her with the skills to tailor her tutoring approach to each student’s unique needs.

    Outside of tutoring, Claudia enjoys crafting with her Cricut machine, making custom cake toppers and t-shirts, and has a passion for crocheting. These hobbies fuel her creativity, which she brings into her teaching to make learning math a more engaging experience.

    Heidi is a junior at the University of Washington, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Molecular Biology, with a minor in Dance. Her academic journey is complemented by her role as a computational undergraduate research assistant in a neuroscience laboratory, where she applies mathematical and computational methods to advance medical and biological research.

    Heidi's strong foundation in STEM subjects, particularly in advanced mathematics and biology, fuels her passion for education and tutoring. She thrives on understanding the underlying principles of mathematical concepts and enjoys helping students grasp these fundamentals to build their confidence and problem-solving skills. Her areas of expertise include high school Calculus and Pre-Calculus.

    In her tutoring approach, Heidi emphasizes the importance of understanding "why" behind methods rather than just memorizing procedures. She finds that thorough preparation, including parent consultation notes and familiarization with students' technology, enhances her ability to deliver exceptional support. Regular check-in meetings also play a crucial role in ensuring effective tutoring.

    Heidi is eager to continue developing her skills, particularly in online tutoring environments, to better serve her students. Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, she enjoys dancing, crocheting, reading, and spending quality time with friends and family.

    Solana holds a BA in Genetics, a STEM Minor in English, and has over 20 years of experience in tutoring and special needs education. Her extensive background equips her with a deep understanding of diverse learning needs and effective instructional strategies.

    Solana's teaching approach is highly personalized, tailoring each session to meet individual student needs. types into their sessions. Solana assigns daily Khan Academy practice for older students, starting them at the third-grade level to ensure a solid foundation advancing them at their own pace. This method reinforces learning in a way similar to practicing an instrument.

    Her teaching style emphasizes giving older students more control over their learning and encourages self-advocacy. Solana uses basic middle school techniques to gauge students’ understanding and adapts her approach based on their progress. She offers support across a wide range of subjects from Elementary math to Pre-Calculus and provides intervention for students scoring below their grade level. She also supports homeschooling and can tailor curricula in collaboration with schools.

Our Team of Dyscalculia Specialists

  • Rachel

    Rachel is an experienced and passionate educator who has taught students from 4th to 7th grade, specializing in mathematics. She has worked as an elementary teacher in a private Catholic school and a middle school mathematics and intervention teacher in a public school. She is a licensed educator in Massachusetts for 1st through 8th grade and has a dyscalculia specialist certification from EduCalc Learning.

    She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and mathematics from Assumption College in Worcester and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in special education at Bridgewater State University. Dyscalculia Tutoring has allowed her to continue sharing her love of learning and making math fun through teaching online. In her spare time, she enjoys watching Boston sports teams, listening to country music, spending time outdoors, and practicing yoga.

  • Susan

    With over 12 years of experience in education, Susan Ardila’s passion lies in helping students unlock their full potential, particularly in math and subjects that challenge traditional thinking. She loves working with students of all ability levels but has a special enthusiasm for supporting those with learning differences like dyscalculia and ADHD. The challenge of helping a student overcome their struggles and reach that “lightbulb moment” is what excites her every time she tutors. She’s energized by working with neurodivergent students who need a personalized approach, and she’s passionate about teaching math in ways that make sense to each learner, breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps.

    As a Certified Teacher and Trained Educational Clinician, Susan continually hones her skills with specialized training in multisensory math instruction, educational therapy, and executive functioning coaching. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Education in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Math Education from The University of Texas. Over the years, Susan has also served in leadership roles such as a science facilitator, mentor teacher, and curriculum writer.

    When she’s not tutoring, Susan loves spending time with her husband, listening to him play guitar, watching movies, or exploring nature. She also enjoys creative activities like writing and crafting resources for her students to make learning more engaging.

    With Susan’s extensive experience, training, and passion for individualized learning, she offers a personalized approach that gives each student the tools and confidence to succeed.
