I had Ms. Walker as a teacher for 3 years, and over such a long period of time, I have grown to know Ms. Walker’s teaching style and methods very well. Ms. Walker has one of the most important characteristics that a teacher must have, and that characteristic is that she cares. She cares about the success of her students, she cares about teaching her students, and she cares about the comfort of her students. Whether you know it consciously or not, I am telling you that you can feel the difference of a teacher who cares and puts so much effort in teaching her class. With regards to math, Ms. Walker is an exceptional math teacher because she teaches the reasons behind why math is the way it is and the relationships behind everything. This extra step in her teachings is what made math so enjoyable for me. Knowing these relationships made remembering equations easier and extrapolating information possible. The way Ms. Walker teaches turns learning math into an exploration. I can say, without doubt, that Ms. Walker’s insistence in teaching the relationships behind math is what made me succeed academically, and it is how I still learn today.
